Thompson and bearing his name, the Thompson Saber was created to Lynn’s exact specifications. Lynn stated, ”I wanted to make a sword for fighting. Not a dueling sword as such, but a true sword-hunting blade for the modern martial artist.” This saber is honed to his precise requirements, favoring cutting slightly over thrusting. It is razor sharp for the first six inches from the point, then gradually less sharp down through the rest of the blade, leaving enough material to block, parry, and even bind an opponent’s blade. It is deeply blued to aid in rust resistance, but also to make the blade harder to see in the fast-paced cutting and thrusting of sparring.

Design and Features

The Thompson Sabre features a modified 1904 saber guard and a substantial handle wrapped in ray skin that can accommodate even large modern fencing gloves.
