The Katana’s Menuki bear the symbol of the Japanese Shisa (Lion Dog), a guardian or protector – a fitting motif for this beautiful light sword. The Gold Lion Katana blade, measuring just under thirty inches, is crafted from skillfully hand-ground and highly polished Damascus steel, featuring a Hamaguri grind, topped by a Lori Mune spine, and a gently curving clay-tempered Hamon. The black iron Tsuba, Fuchi, and Kashira all feature lustrous 24 karat gold leaf accents, and the handle is wrapped in white ray skin with a black silk cord. The Gold Lion Wakizashi mirrors the material, fit, and finish of its larger brother in every way except size.
